About Husker Du

Husker Du Kennels were founded by us, Sheila & Glen Laughton in 1987. We  added our first Siberian to our Reno, Nevada home in 1985, and since then have devoted ourselves to breeding, training, and raising outstanding AKC registered Siberian Husky puppies for loving, responsible, pet and show homes. Our kennel name, 'Husker Du' means "Do You Remember", and just as the name implies, we are dedicated to breeding and raising dogs that will always be remembered.

We are members of the Siberian Husky Club of America, SNDD (Sierra Nevada Dog Drivers), and ISDRA (International Sled Dog Racing Association).  The many years of dedication and devotion as breeders, and owners gives us the knowledge and experience to help us breed the best dogs that anybody could want in terms of temperament, structure and standards for these beautiful animals.

Our highly-selective breeding program produces puppies that are true to the standard of the Siberian Husky in health, temperament and structure, and we are always striving to improve the breed with each litter that we produce.  All of our dogs live in the home with us, which over the years has been as many as 17, right now we have 8 Siberian Huskies at Husker Du.  We have bred 25 breeder//owner handled and 7 bred and shown by others and have competitively worked these same dogs on mid-distance sled teams, taking First Place Purebred at several races.  Our GCH Huskerdu Rain, Wind 'N Fire finished 2010 #10 in the Country All Breed, always breeder/owner handled. Our dogs are calm and easy to live with, temperament is a key factor in our breeding program.
